SHADOW OF MISERY

Created during my early noire period, my references were often in pain. This was my study of anatomy from book title and author. After the second sketch my crouched self wants to become something else. My spirit leaves the body in search of trouble.

The monochrome palette harmonised my preoccupation with distortion, surreal-inception, and the emotional weight of the human form. Even in these early explorations, my instinct for contrast is unmistakable: My grounded physicality below the unravelling energy above. A glimpse into the beginnings of his bold, searching, unafraid of the dark, visual language.
