Narrative
l00K began as a creative experiment — a prompt asking AI to imagine a “USD 100,000 contemporary watercolour by an African artist.” What emerged opened a deeper inquiry into value, authorship, and perception. Its title echoes both 100K and the act of looking, heightened by the surreal interaction between face and hand: the hand sits behind the face yet appears to slide forward, slightly misaligned, as if gesture and identity are momentarily out of phase.
The portrait’s crisp penwork — a clear nod to the artist’s graphic design background — contrasts with the looser anatomical study beside it, the two halves divided by a burst of radiant colour.
Layered, self aware, and quietly humorous, L00K reflects on the shifting boundaries of creativity in an age where artists and algorithms meet.
