KNOTE

H2O COLOUR

Narrative

KNOTE reimagines Ghana’s abundant resources, skilled professionals, and ongoing economic transformation as a conceptual Cedi banknote. The montage unfolds through intricate penmanship, vibrant watercolours, and flashes of metallic paint, each element carrying symbolic weight — industry, agriculture, energy, culture, and the people who drive them.

Commissioned as the first artwork welcoming guests into the Bank of Ghana’s headquarters, it stands as both greeting and statement: a portrait of national potential rendered through layered imagery.

For Nkwaye, it was a daunting leap — his first work of such monumental scale on paper. The sheer size pushed him to his limits, demanding endurance, precision, and trust in his own vision.

KNOTE becomes a testament to ambition: a nation’s story told through one artist’s most expansive gesture.
