HWEHWE MU DUA

When Abena was invited to the annual barbie, she asked for a futuristic native look. She wouldn’t allow inorganics on her face. So I taped thin slices of sugar infused Aloe vera and cucumber across the contours of her face. It protected her from the sun as much as the camera flash.

Hwehwe Mu Dua means "rod of investigation" or "measuring stick" in the Akan language, and it symbolizes excellence, quality control, perfection, and self-examination. The Ghana Standards Board uses the Adinkra symbol as its official logo and insignia to show its commitment to product quality and safety.
