HOOK

We live dangerously, and every now and then, I try to imagine such rare scenes based on mythical encounters, folklore or in this case, a figment of yours truly. A moment of intimate tension between man and croc spawned HOOK. Far from Peter Pan’s Captain Hook, the still reference is pulled from a video I created using AI: as I couldn’t hope to find or afford a model and croc to achieve such a pose.

The pose captures a brief moment between the two combatants, before the struggle turns. I used AI to create the reference, then translated it into watercolour, focusing on the textures of skin, scales and hair. The result sits somewhere between tension and absurdity: a man face-to-face with a crocodile, each waiting for the next move.
