HOOK

We live dangerously, and every now and then, I try to imagine such rare scenes based on mythical encounters, folklore or in this case, a figment of yours truly. A moment of intimate tension between man and croc spawned HOOK. Far from Peter Pan’s Captain Hook, the still reference is pulled from a video I created using AI: as I couldn’t hope to find or afford a model and croc to achieve such a pose.

The portrait harmonizes the combatants together in sur-realistic and abstracted watercolour detailing of hair, scales and skin texture. The intimacy in the spin is a man seemingly ready to smooch a croc. Yet, only the frozen pose of two combatants, just before the man spins the croc into a chokehold.

Why dramatize the encounter, when you can explore the fragile coexistence between foes?
