DURBAR II

DURBAR II

H2O COLOUR

Narrative

In Durbar II, an Asante King sits elevated in his palanquin, surrounded by attendants whose roles are woven into the ceremonial structure. The long wooden staff held by the figure on the right is the lower section of a grand ceremonial umbrella — a symbol of protection, status, and royal presence. The masked figure on the left adds a layer of guardianship and tradition.

The background shifts from woven pattern to atmospheric haze, echoing the blend of cultural precision and artistic interpretation. The painting captures the collective choreography that defines a durbar.
